DRESSING CELEBRITY BRIDES FOR 2015

2014 has been the year of celebrity weddings: George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka, Cheryl Cole and Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, Poppy Delevingne and James Cook, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Scarlett Johansson and Romain Dauriac, and of course, Eddie Redmayne and Hannah Bagshawe’s winter wonderland wedding a few days ago. Just to mention a few.

Naturally, the wedding style of 2014 is far from a summary by a single-word description: it has been lavish, secret, magazine-cover worthy, inspired by children’s artwork, downright hippie and bohemian, chic hipster, embroidered and beaded from head to toe, all lace, tulle and even cashmere.

So, what can we to expect in the new year?

We are offering you bridal inspiration for 2015!

Let us look at three celebrities who are probably dress-hunting for their big day right now.

SOPHIE HUNTER

Benedict Cumberbatch’s sweet fiancée, Sophie Hunter, a theatre director and a Samuel Beckett Award winner, has already made a few public appearances with him in New York and London during the last month. Initially met with distrust by Cumberbatch’s admirers, the British lady is already winning hearts with her graceful appearance and perfect sense of style. Some believe that her picking Erdem (a floral embroidered black maxi-gown and a black and orange rose print jacquard gown) and Emilia Wickstead (a chocolate brown leather 50’s midi dress) for these events is a sign of the rising of a new fashion icon.

Can you already imagine her as a gorgeous bride? We can.

We picked a Joyce Young dress design which would suit Sophie’s minimalist fashion-forward sense of style. The keywords here are femininity, elegance and a bit if vintage. The English Rose look. A bit of vintage would be ideal for her, more restrained rather than dramatic (e.g. soft pink lips for a more youthful look rather than edgy red).

Our ANABELLE dress (design 1300) is a luscious ivory floor length gown with delicate illusion off-shoulders sleeves, a sweetheart neckline and a scooped back. The intricate lace overlay can testify for Sophie’s love of florals and the sweeping train is a clear statement of royal finesse.

GERI HALLIWELL

Similarly to Benedict and Sophie, Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell and the Team Principal of Formula One Christian Horner chose to announce their engagement in a charmingly old fashioned manner through a notice in The Times.

What a wonderful bride she would make! Her fearless fashion style and her copper locks look are a priceless gift for any designer to work with.

We saw her this summer at Poppy Delevingne’s wedding in a blush pink strapless A-line gown, while at more recent events, she has been showing a preference for nudes: beige, dusty pink, off-whites. Because of her warm skin undertones we would pick a dress hue such as ivory instead of bright white.

The lady who made the Union Jack dress popular worldwide would definitely suit a wedding dress which makes a statement, a cheerful and spicy one.

Our EMILY is a whimsical design made with layers of pleated chiffon and lace featuring a ring of feathers along the hemline for a flirty bohemian look. Accessories can play a key role in the final look. To cater for Geri’s style, we would customise it into a minidress (we all know her love of sweet frocks) and definitely add a luxurious shrug, the fluffier, the better!

MILA KUNIS

As the actress is currently a full-time mommy to newborn baby Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher, her wedding to fiancé Ashton could get postponed a little. More about her wedding plans we get to know from a recent interview:

‘I never wanted to get married. From the age of 12, I prepared my parents for no marriage. Then things changed – I found the love of my life. Now my theory on weddings is: Don’t invite anyone. Do it privately and secretly. My parents are ok with that. They’re just excited that I said yes.’ (W.)

While we might not hear much about her bridal-dress-hunting, we definitely have ideas about Mila as a bride. We have noticed her distinct preference for mini dresses yet also love some of her floor-length evening gown choices, e.g. a lavender lace pleats Elie Saab dress at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards.

We all know Mila can be a fashion chameleon. However, we would be really excited to see her in a 50’s tea length bridal dress with a retro scoop neck.

What would suit her from the JY collections is our PEGGY QUE (design 138): a stunning 50’s style dress evocative of vintage glamour, playfulness and sophistication. A sweetheart neckline and a simple satin belt with a bow can work miracles. Truly.
