MOTHER OF THE BRIDE – WORTHY RED CARPET LOOKS 2015

Looking for wedding inspiration as a mother of the bride-to-be is a key process in your big day preparations as much as offering support to your daughter throughout. However, what we find quite often is that mothers of the bride and/or groom are terribly underrepresented as a voice and silhouette in the fashion world. The mothers’ role on the big day is definitely vital even in its subtle and understated mode, yet enough guidance on flattering beauty looks seems to be lacking on a larger scale and where present, to be even contradictory.

There is never a contradiction in being truly elegant. Neither in achieving a flattering comfortable look reflecting the true you. Nor in feeling confident in your own skin. So, we aim for that. For an effortless fine look where you are feeling you have brought out the best of yourself and it is clearly visible.

Keeping up with the most noteworthy couture news in the fashion world, we are looking at three mother-of-the-bride worthy looks from the red carpet at the 72nd Golden Globe Awards 2015. Let’s note down the style and beauty secrets of the professional ladies in Hollywood who have plenty of experience with highlighting the best of themselves for demanding events such as the red carpet. These ladies are accomplished professionals, look incredibly feminine and elegant and remind us that age is absolutely no excuse for anything.

HELEN MIRREN

‘When in doubt, wear red.’ Bill Blass.

Not that she ever showed any signs of fashion uncertainty or timidity. It’s just another great Helen-in-scarlet appearance. Being the queen of flattering silhouettes and beautiful design details, Helen Mirror shies away neither from stylish suits nor from floor-sweeping evening gown. She is truly lovely in this floor-length form-fitting Dolce&Gabbana with rhinestone encrusted neckline and long sleeves. Red lips, a red clutch and oversized red Chopard crystal earrings complement her natural effortless look.

What to learn from her appearance:

~ Glamour does suit ladies with a rich experience of life. Glamourous is worth donning a floor-sweeping dress for!

~ Curves are to be loved and lovingly accentuated.

~ A signature jewellery piece does most of the work with accessorising. Without being overbearing, it hits full resplendence where it is needed and leaves the rest classic and simple. Helen’s choice:  oversized ruby and diamond earrings to frame the face and leave the chest free, beautiful and open.

~ Hairdo: An easy blonde bob. The best option for your hair might not be some fancy, time-consuming and difficult to sustain hairstyle. Take extra care of your skin and hair months in advance, so the beauty transition into the big day becomes as easy as possible. Nothing better than healthy and shiny hair and a fresh glowing face.

~ Makeup: Classic red lips and an understated eye-liner.

MAURA TIERNEY

Actress Maura Tierny attended the ceremony in a gorgeous floor-length chainmail Jenny Packham gown in Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2015, namely Marsala. Her sparkly outfit featured a softening cowl-neck, three-quarter sleeves and a stylish indigo cinch belt. Her combination of three key accessories being clutch-belt-earrings, we observe a gradual movement upwards. It’s a more reserved look, yet unmistakably elegant.

What to learn from her appearance:

~ A mother of the bride’s look does not need to be provocative or particularly youthful in order not to appear old and frumpy. Luxury and aristocracy work absolutely fine. When has sophistication done any harm? Ever…

~ Pick THE colour: Marsala is praised to be a warm rich welcoming hue, subtly sultry and extremely versatile. It is also flattering against many skin tones.  Marsala easily exudes nobility just like a rare vintage wine.

~ Shades and Shades: You want a shade which flows harmoniously with your natural complexion.

~ Pop of colour: If you pick a slow seductive colour such as Marsala, a dazzling pop of colour for your accessories can give it a fine and edgy finish. Maura’s choice: Indigo!

~ Leave the cleavage to speak for itself: Same here! Maura’s indigo golden-rimmed earrings leave the neck free and suggestive.

~ Beauty tips: very much understated. A strong wine colour needs a bright face. Here, the lips are in a very light shade of plum complemented by softly flushed cheeks. A lengthening mascara is a must.

~ Hair: Tousled. Organic. Extra texture. A loose low chignon works beautifully for weddings.

JANE FONDA

Another hot red outfit by a dazzling blonde. Red is a fairly common choice for this year’s ceremony, yet it takes more than just a hue for one to make an enchanting appearance. In her 70s, Jane Fonda is every bit of an icon!

What a wonderful bold option we receive from her: a sleek long figure-highlighting Versace with high neck, long sleeves, half beaded asymmetrical illusion neckline and one beaded illusion sleeve, a side peek-a-boo with sheer inlays and lace-up embellishments.

What to learn from her appearance:

~ Be a feminine presence in your own right. You can look stunning at any age.

~ Diversify red: Instead of storming the beholder’s eye with a fiery red and by that, with lots of it, diversify with a tasteful colour combination. Jane’s choice: Silver and Red! Glittery silver Jimmy Choo heels, red Rauwolf clutch and silver Bulgari chandelier earrings.

~ Illusion sleeves: You love your shoulders and would like to show off a bit of skin in a tasteful way? Don’t shy away from photos!

~ The best you can look is healthy and radiant: We love her peachy sun-kissed Californian look. Gentle make up and a volume boosting mascara keep it natural and soft.

~ Trust your signature haircut!
