Shopping Advice for Brides and Mothers

No one could have predicted the situation in the wedding industry this year, so here is some shopping advice from Joyce.

Virtually thousands of weddings have been postponed to next year and beyond. Thousands of couples have had their plans and dreams dashed as they struggle to rearrange their weddings with the same suppliers for different dates , some going into 2022 to secure the same venue on a Saturday. Some of our lovely brides are on their third and even fourth new date. All our diaries are constantly changing. For the couples it is devastating and for the suppliers and the industry it is an immense challenge.

2021 looks like being a bumper year for weddings with hotels being booked up weekends and weekdays. None of us know what the next few months will bring and I therefore urge brides and mums to start booking early to avoid any more stress. There will be no wedding shows this year therefore businesses will be relying on online promotion and word of mouth recommendations to secure new clients. The industry’s main form of advertising and information for brides in Scotland was The Scottish Wedding Directory which sadly this week has closed due to the knock on effects of Coronavirus.

We are all in this challenging time together and Joyce Young Design Studios want to make the run up to your wedding as enjoyable and stress free as possible. A wedding is a joyous happy time for families and we owe it to the couples getting married in this unprecedented time to make their weddings as normal and happy as possible.

We can only do so much to create the perfect day and the Government will decide on how many guests will be allowed to attend your wedding. We are a positive bunch and must go forward believing in and hoping for the best so let’s assume by next year we be looking back on masks and 20 people at a wedding as a thing of the past.

Therefore please don’t be obsessed with losing weight and leaving wedding shopping to the last minute, adjustments can be made nearer the time . The main thing is to be organised in advance so that should there be any local lockdowns or delay in supply chains then there isn’t a last minute panic.

Next year will be a very busy year for all your wedding suppliers so we all must plan ahead.

At both Joyce Young London and Glasgow we have a safe environment with plenty of hand sanitiser, masks and gloves available and although we have plenty of room we are currently only taking one appointment at a time giving you the luxury of having the showroom to yourself and your guests . As always we are appointment only so please book your space as soon as possible as we can only take 4 clients per day.

Please phone or e-mail us with any questions you may have.

We are also happy to do initial consultations on Zoom if you would like to try out modern technology. Unfortunately there is currently no online substitute for trying on a dress !
