When the designer’s son gets married

The Engagement

It’s such a special moment when your son tells you that his girlfriend is the love of his life and they plan to get married especially when you also love the girl he has chosen to be your daughter in law.

The preparations for the wedding

When your future mother in law is a well known wedding dress designer you don’t have much choice other than let her make your dress……. it would be rude not to ! So the fun journey began for Katie and her Mum and Bridesmaids to choose their favourite styles.

Ian and his Groomsmen chose to wear Arran Mist tartan highlandwear from MacGregor and MacDuff and the chosen colour theme for the wedding was blue as it’s a good look for the bridesmaids to tone in with the kilts.

Katie’s lovely Mum is blonde and like myself also suits blue. As well as matching with the guys kilts , more importantly, the colour was flattering for both mums and bridesmaids alike.

Katie knew exactly which dress she wanted and chose our Chloe style with hand beaded bodice, circular satin skirt and long flowing train . The bridesmaids all suited and loved the colour Larkspur and chose different styles in the same colour from the Dessy Collection to suit their individual shapes and personalities https://www.joyceyoungcollections.co.uk/collections/dessy-bridesmaids/

Lindsey Katie’s Mum looked fabulous in our Forties style button front satin back crepe dress and she chose to have it made up on the satin side https://www.joyceyoungcollections.co.uk/collections/mother-of-the-bride/forties-style-elegant-tea-length-button-front-dress/ Our milliner created a beautiful teardrop hat from the same fabric which matched perfectly.

I chose to wear palazzo pants and an ombre silk chiffon tunic . I had felt very comfortable at a previous wedding in a trouser outfit and decided to go along the same lines.

The Wedding Day

The wedding was held over the sunniest weekend of the year (we were so lucky) at Lochgreen House Hotel and Spa in Troon Ayrshire https://www.lochgreenhouse.com/ . It was a weekend full of happiness, fun and joy and we are so grateful to have had such amazing weather.

The video below is put together from lots of photos by guests on their i phones and hopefully captures the emotion of the day. In coming weeks I will post the professional pictures and videos which we are excited to see.
